Itinerary

Arrive in the foothills of Kilimanjaro, with time to prepare and meet your guide. Settle into your hotel in Arusha or Moshi, the vibrant base towns for Kilimanjaro expeditions. Spend the evening learning about the trek, finalizing your gear, and receiving important acclimatization tips from your guide.

Accommodation: Arusha Serena Hotel or Kilimanjaro Wonders Hotel in Moshi offers comfortable rooms and stunning views of the mountain.

Dinner: Enjoy a welcoming dinner featuring Tanzanian cuisine, like grilled nyama choma (roasted meats), fresh vegetables, and hearty stews to fuel up for your trek.

The adventure begins at Machame Gate (1,800 meters) where you’ll start the hike through Kilimanjaro’s dense rainforest zone. This lush forest is home to diverse wildlife, including colobus monkeys, tropical birds, and unique plant species. After a few hours of trekking, you’ll reach Machame Camp (3,000 meters).

Hiking Time: 5-7 hours

Elevation Gain: 1,200 meters

Accommodation: Overnight at Machame Camp, where you’ll camp in tents under the forest canopy.

Meals: Dinner is prepared by your trekking crew, featuring energy-packed dishes like vegetable stew, rice, and fresh fruits.

Depart Machame Camp and ascend through heather and moorland zones, where the vegetation becomes more sparse, offering stunning views of the plains below. After climbing up a rocky ridge, you’ll reach Shira Camp (3,840 meters), located on a plateau with panoramic views of the peaks and the Shira Cathedral rock formation.

Hiking Time: 5-6 hours

Elevation Gain: 840 meters

Accommodation: Overnight at Shira Camp, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Kibo Peak and the plains stretching into the horizon.

Meals: Enjoy a warm, energizing meal of soups, pasta, and local specialties to help you acclimate.

Today’s trek includes an acclimatization hike to Lava Tower (4,630 meters) before descending to Barranco Camp (3,976 meters). This "climb high, sleep low" approach helps your body adjust to the altitude. You’ll traverse beautiful alpine desert terrain with volcanic rocks and panoramic vistas of Kilimanjaro’s peaks.

Hiking Time: 6-7 hours

Elevation Gain: 790 meters up, 650 meters down

Accommodation: Camp at Barranco Camp, located at the base of the Barranco Wall with stunning sunset views.

Meals: Enjoy a hearty dinner as the sun sets, with hot soups, vegetable dishes, and energy-rich foods prepared by the crew.

Begin the day with a thrilling climb up the Barranco Wall, a rocky cliff that provides spectacular views as you ascend. After conquering the wall, you’ll continue through the Karanga Valley, with a mix of rocky terrain and breathtaking landscapes.

Time: Morning to Early Afternoon
From Karanga Camp, continue to Barafu Camp (4,673 meters), the base camp for summit attempts. This alpine desert terrain has sparse vegetation but provides a clear view of the summit. After an early dinner, you’ll rest and prepare for a midnight summit attempt.

The climb to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters) begins just after midnight, reaching the summit by sunrise. Watch as the first rays of light illuminate Africa’s highest point, an awe-inspiring reward for your efforts. After celebrating, begin your descent back to Mweka Camp (3,067 meters).

Complete the final leg of the trek to Mweka Gate (1,640 meters) where you’ll celebrate with your team and receive your Kilimanjaro trekking certificate. Return to Moshi for a celebration dinner and well-earned relaxation at your hotel.

Hiking Time: 3-4 hours

Lunch: Celebrate with a traditional Tanzanian meal back in Moshi, including favorite dishes like pilau rice, chapati, and fresh tropical fruits.
